애시드 재즈의 선두주자 US3의
[Hand on the Torch]발매 20주년 기념반!
영국 출신의 밴드로 DJ였던 Geoff Wilkinson과 엔지니어인 Mel Simpson이 주축이 되어 결성한 US3는 재즈 명인들의 앨범을 샘플링하여 1993년 [Hand on the Torch]를 발매했다.
이 앨범의 대성공으로 US3는 펑키한 비트와 그루브가 매력적인 ‘애시드 재즈(Acid Jazz)’의 전도사로 추앙 받았고, 이 앨범은 현재까지도 블루노트에서 가장 많이 팔린 앨범으로 평가된다.
2013년, 올해로 발표된 지 20년을 맞게 된 이들의 [Hand on the Torch]가 더욱 새로워진 버전으로 돌아왔다.
이번 [Hand on the Torch] 20주년 기념반은 디지털 리마스터링을 거쳐 향상된 음질로 감상이 가능하며, “Cantaloop”의 4가지 새로운 리믹스 버전을 포함한 당시에 소개되지 않았던 13곡이 추가로 수록되어있다.
